soa & How do you pay off a loan?!

  • It seems possible that you could easily get your outgoings without debts under your incomings. You certainly have a fair amount to cut back on. However, you do not have enough money to pay debts as well. You need to speak to the CCCS and get them to put you on a debt management plan (DMP), where the interest is frozen and you will pay reduced amounts. You should address this asap as the situation will only be getting worse every month. You are currently getting deeper in debt.

Secondly, you need to think about increasing income. I see you have little ones. Were you planning on going back to work soon/ at all? I guess you are a teacher, so will be able to get a good income. Good Luck and keep posting.

i'm really not sure i can face doing this just yet - i have a fear that they will take my house - we will sort bit by bit but i think i need to give it a month before i do that - the problem was that i gave up work when my husband was at uni because i had postnatal depression (feeling like that again now!) and we are still recovering from that - i know i am being weak and still putting my head in the sand but i feel like i need to get my head around what is happening 1st and see what savings i can make and get a grip on what is happening to my money and feel more in control first

sorry for rambling and being pathetic
  • [QUOTE=immoral_angeluk
Sorry if any of that seems harsh. Just looking at it from a realistic point of view but well done for realising that something needs to be done and I hope you can make cutbacks so you can make it easier for yourself and start sorting your debts out.[/QUOTE]

its not harsh its helpful thanks
  • Your not being pathetic. At all.

One step at a time, that's all you need to take. You need to spend the next few days/weeks reading this website from top to bottom. You will not loose your house with a DMP. Have you read Martins debt page?

    Hi, I found you again!
I haven't had time to read the whole thread so sorry if this has been said before, but do you have Aldi, Lidl or Netto near you? Well worth a look to cut your shopping bill.
I always go to Netto for olive oil, passata and cottage cheese if I can as theirs are nice and much cheaper than elsewhere. Good for many other things too. There are threads somewhere around with suggestions of what to look for particularly in Lidl.

Another thought - you're a teacher, aren't you? Is there any scope for coaching? Or, as your children are younger, childminding?

  • "house insurance £33 "

I have just swapped my building & contents insurance to barclays through quidco site. It is only £20 a month for much more cover than I had before AND I will get £125 cash back from quidco (in around 3 months time). have a look at this!
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

I would look into the following

Food £512.00 £6,144.00 ( 1 think this really needs looking at ) personnaly (no kids) we budget £20 a week for each adult if you did that and £15 a week for each child it should be £40(2 adults) £30(2 children) = £70 a week (£280 a month) this is just a guess as i dont know what children cost.

bg service contract £26.00 £312.00 (Do you get £312 worth of stuff fixed a year ?) Or could you save this to an emergancy fund ?

swimming £35.00 £420.00 (any way to cut this down ?)

Actually you can do it less than this.

We have 2 adults in the house and 3 children. Last week I spent £52.00 and £4.00of that was on amazing xmas sale for this year, £4.00, on nappies and £6.00 on baby food. Our cupboard and freezer are full. I have learnt to look to see what I need for the week rather than just picking up here and there as I go in and out of the isles. I use to spend £80.00 a week then and only had 2 children. Got home and think tomyself what have I spent it on.

  • hi,am feeling much more positive this evening. Dh and i have just sat together - after having v frank chat last night about debt and me showing him the thread (thanks moozie think you had done this in yours) i just wanted him to realise - and we have done some budgeting which we NEVER do. He was paid on 19th so have worked out all spending from then for month, worked out what we have spent on food and have set budget for rest of month, will be less then original lower than normal budget (£400) i am determind. It obviously can be done as some of you have shown me.

are mortgage holiday started this month, we bt £700 and i got a wage. we still overspent on christmas but we now know what we will go overdrawn if we spend nothing else so can be aware. :j :j :j i can't believe we have done it.

thank you to everyone for support and encouragement. I still feel sick about debt but am just knowing has helped and also knowing what have spent on food which is my big stupid spending

how do i put things in my signature - i didn;t want to incase this wasn't my lbm and i looked stupid but it really really is :j :j :j
