Hi Miss GG. The venue am booking have offered to do canapes but these are classed as the starter for the wedding breakfast so the when people are seated they just have their main and a dessert. Think this is a great idea as its spreads the eating out a bit longer but doesnt cost you anymore, could be something you could enquire about x0

Catewill thanks for the suggestion it makes great sense but our venue insists we MUST have a 3 course wedding breakfast and that the cake cannot be used as dessert. Canapes are an added extra at extra cost and so we were looking to save money where possible and, if people could hold out until around 5pm not to have them.:heart2::heart2: Bride to be - 30 June 2012:heart2::heart2:0

Our wedding was at 3pm and dinner was served at 5.30pm.
We had canapes as there was sparkling wine during the ceremony, plus 2hrs is a long time for the guests to wait.
Most of them aren't involved in photos, so the canapes keep them entertained.
But I'm sure bowls of nuts / crisps etc would be fine too, and a bit more MSE.
Personally I'd avoid olives. I love olives, but at our menu tasting we found that it was easy to spill the oil on your clothes while eating, and no-one wants grease stains on their wedding outfits!0 -
I wouldnt do canapes.... people normally eat breakfast lunch and dinner without the need for a canape mid afternoon..... if people have to travel they can buy a sandwhich from tesco before the wedding!
The only time I would do canapes would be for a 1 o'clock ish wedding where they prob wouldnt have had time for lunch....
At the end of the day, most canapes per head are for 3 or 5 and do they really fill you up that much? I would save your money! :-) xxx0
