I have recieved a letter from mackenzio Hall demanding payment for a debt I dont have

Hi this morning I recived a letter from a company called Mackenzie Hall dated dec 29.
Ther reckon I owe a company called Cabot Financial £220.30 and they are prepared to accept a Reduced settlement Payment by Monday of £132.18.
Thing is I haven't got a clue what they are going on about. I have never had any dealings with a company called Cabot Financial.
And even if I had why has taken a week for the leter to reach me
I have googled Mackenzie Hall and it appears they behave like charlatans.
What shall I do - they are threatening me with all sorts?
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I think Cabot will have bought the debt from someone else (if it exists at all, and if you're the right debtor).

Yes seems Cabot are another debt company who will have sold the debt on http://www.cabotfinancial.co.uk/whoare.htm so it will have originally came from someone else. Give them a call and ask them. Probably taken a week as Royal mail seem to have a huge backlog, I've had mail dated 23rd December today.
One day I might be more organised...........

This is typical of the way that Mackenzie Hall conduct their 'business'. You need, first of all to write to Mackenzie Hall and inform them that you do NOT acknowledge any debt to them and that they must supply a true copy of the original credit agreement/details of alleged debt BEFORE you will discuss it with them. Failure to do so will make any alleged debt unenforceable.
There is a template letter - I will try and find it.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
