Telewest / Blueyonder savings

I know this should go on the thread in the Telephone/Internet section but I didn't think everyone would see how much they could save!

I've just called 0800 0730591 and said I'd like to leave as Sky broadband is now available in my area. They offered to halve my broadband charges immediatly to £17.50 (10mb).
I said that Sky were offering broadband for £10 and so the CS operator halved my line rental too to £5.50!

I'm now saving £276 for the next 12 months!

If you need to see which providers have now unlooped BT access in your area then check http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php

The BT + Sky package would have cost £20.75 pm plus alot of faffing around arranging new lines, contracts etc and poor CS. I've never had a complaint about Telewest (in fact they've always been excellent when I called) and that now costs £23pm!

I done this 5 months ago and they matched Sky price for me - saving me £36 a month - They told me to call in the new year as they have new price plans out then, but heard nothing as yet. This has just run out so will phone tomorrow and see if I can get it for a year - I would much rather stick with Telewest for BB as there CS is great, and we have virtually no problems with it.

    Thanks for the reminder!

I'm with Telewest but don't have a BT phoneline installed at the property. I'm assuming that you'll need this for Sky Broadband or other alternatives?
  • Thank-you for this post. I may just give it a try Tomorrow night. Now i dont want to pay £17.99 for the net access, what does it cost for 2MB?

I suppose you can't do this if you are already in a 12month contract with Telewest. You can only do this if your contract is coming to an end.

May be worth giving it a go anyway they can only say no.

Many thanks to the OP I rang the cancellations and said I was going to switch my telephone and broadband to sky. After a detailed account of what a rubbish service sky provide the woman offered me £7.99 off my broadband for a year and free evening and weekend calls on the phone so I accepted.

Completely agree! I've received excellent customer service from Telewest.
New customer, previously had Sky but we've just moved and decided to get Telewest (T wasn't available at our old place) and even though we've had problems with telelphone/broadband, the customer service advisors have been excellent and they answer the phone so quickly AND call you back when they say they will! :D :rotfl:
The CS immediately apologised and offered a credit for first month & first payment and has arranged for an engineer to come out tomorrow to ensure everything is installed correctly & working.

Worth knowing about the deals they offer, thanks! :D May ask if they can do anything or at least match some Sky prices
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

Damn, wish I'd read this, this mornin.

Just got my internet reduced by £15 per month for 6 months. If I'd have known I could have pushed for longer and reduction in phone line.

Ah well, better than nowt and I'll be back at them when the reduction runs out.
