STITCH step by step is a comprehensive encyclopaedia of decorative stitches for embroidery and needlepoint. More than 200 stitches are included, arranged in chapters relating to surface embroidery, openwork, smocking, beadwork, needlepoint and Florentine work. As you would expect from Dorling Kindersley, the book design is excellent; each item is clearly illustrated with high-quality photographs for every step required to complete a decorative stitch or to understand the aspects of a technique. All the basic information on embroidery techniques, tools and finishing is clear and concise. The stitch gallery is well ordered and is a great way to find an appropriate stitch for any project.
