worrying about how everything will flow!!

I am getting married at 4pm,was originally 5 but thought everything will be rushed , at first we were inviting everyone to the church (roughly 200) but then decided agaisnt this because would like it a bit more intimate so half will be invited for the service and the other half for reception.

i am freaking out about how to work the food because its a buffet. do i opent the buffet when the night quest are arriving or is this too late for the earlier guests and too earlier for the night guests as they may not be hungry or do i put a buffet on for earlier guest then make something later for night guest but if they come into the hall and theres still food would this be rude? (they could still help theirselfs to buffet if they wanted to, it is in the ajoining kitchen to the hall and have something later)

i am just not sure!!

any help of how someone has worked this or any suggestions would be great.

You could do nibbles when first guests arrive? Like breadsticks and nuts and olives? Then open the buffet earlier than norm maybe around 8 to allow for latecomers. If you put an order of the day on your website/with invites it would make sure everyone was aware what was happening.

Pretty sure i've posted this already somewhere (and bear in mind this was a small do) the wedding i was at at the weekend went:
4.00 Ceremony followed by nibbles in the barn (everything was in one area)
6.30 Hog roast/buffet - this was left out all evening but got covered
7.00 Band
9.00 Speeches and cake
9.30 Disco

you could do half and half as the day guests will be starving if they wait? or a more defind buffett frist then a more open simply buffet for the evening. x
