CIFAS warning

Ive just discovered one on my credit file, I remember my O/D application being turned down because of it, the woman let slip.
How long do they stay? Is it the same time as the application was made.

I applied for an A&L current ac and was declined for credit score i seem to remember, this is what the entry on experian says.

"Application Fraud (Facility Refused) Use of a name reasonably believed to be genuine, but with one or more material falsehoods in personal details or other relevant information – the facility was refused."

Any ideas?

  • What did you put on your application (or did not put on)?
Too much salary perhaps or forgetting one address in last 3 years?
Try getting your Experian credit files for £2 to see what's on there.

Thats a standard CIFAS warning - simply means there was an error on your application compared to the information they already hold from previous. could be date of birth, time at address, previous address error. It may be possible that it isnt something you have done - it is possible that a piece of your information was misread or even miskeyed - that would cause it, especially if it was date of birth.

    My name was spelt wrong?
When does it go away, I know it stopped my O/D with Woolwich.
Can I make it go away?

    Thanks for quick replies :)

Name being spelt wrong is another possibility, i would ring the company, get them to look at the application, get them to correct any errors there and then. This (with most companies) will give a second credit score immeadiately - and in some cases goes from a straight decline to an accept without any further information needed.
