Debt Advice, Mature Student No idea where to start
fulloffilling
I am a mature student, just finished my first year and just turned 25.
Basically i never thought about money or things like credit scores but only recently i have been starting to worry about it.
I have defaults on my credit history and can only seem to get a basic bank account these days, but i finally want to turn this around, i have 3 years left at uni and would like to finish with a clean slate apart from my student loan.
I have about 2600 in debt to a credit card, bank, and a catalog card i got carried away all from when i was 19/20 and a mobile phone contract i never finished off. There are about 4 different companies i owe a share of this debt too
I've not worked since being a student from last september, and before then didn't give much thought into repaying anything, but now it is at the front of my mind.
I have just got a part time job so that should help but being a student money is low, what would be the best way for me too sort this out?
I also want to learn to drive at some point as thats needed to be done as well.
Thanks for any help and support

Hi and welcome to the DFW!
In my view its a good idea to peg your DFW journey to other life goals, so linking it to your degree could be very effective. Student life, mature or otherwise, also gives you a good reason to live frugally, which will help.
Anyway, nitty-gritty time. Complete the Statement of Affairs (SOA) at the link below, and this will give people here the best idea of how to advise you. We'll help you to make your money go further and start to eliminate those debts.
If you haven't done one before, it could be a real eye opener for you too.
