Well the last couple have days have been good tinged with bad.
Transferred the £200 on the interest paying crediut card to one which had a 0% offer on, so we now have all our credit card debt on 0% until mid-next year.:money:
OH had an amazing £210 in matched betting accounts which he is starting to draw down so that will make some impact on his Odraft - which is now the only interest attracting debt, but at a shocking 19.9% is the highest of any of them even if they weren't on 0%. We must focus on this.
In some bad news, I got my final salary through from work and it was a third of what I was expecting. They haven't (conveniently) sent my payslip as they normally do so I feel a scam is away here. I haven't, as far as I know, been paid for my holidays etc etc. SO I now have a shortfall of £1000 this month which we weren't expecting til next month. This means, as I still pay the basic bills, I am going ot have to raid my business account just to pay council tax, gas and electric. My salary only covers my mortgage.
To make matters worse I have two family birthdays to shell out for this month
So I really need to cut back big style and in honour of that goal, I've had a big bowl of Smart Price porridge for breakfast (I usually have Granola bar and banana).
So today, I've realised that I really have to make some money urgently. Cutting back can only have finite results!
My tasks today will be:
Business:
Piece of work for client 1 - £18
[STRIKE]Piece of work for client 2 - £8 [/STRIKE]
Banked work for client 1
Sort my 2010 - 11 accounts out ready for tax return (as I am due to be in labour the day it's due!!)
Spend the entire afternoon building the structure of my new affiliate site (which I am really struggling with)
House:
Iron all shirts for next week (OH)
[STRIKE]Sort clean washing[/STRIKE]
Today I've had a big bowl of porridge for breakfast which should keep me going ages. WILl have soup and granary bread for lunch and am making HM meatballs and spaghetti for dinner. I have a stash of cookie Dough ice cream and a twirl in case i get the munchies later.0 -
Hello,
That's such a shame about your salary working out much lower than you expected, I hope you're able to get a copy of your payslip to see exactly what's going on.
But it sounds like you've had great results elsewhere with only one debt having interest applied to it just now.
And you've got work coming in and you're making cutbacks, so you're making really positive steps too.
Chin up, you're doing so well.

So far this weekend has been up and down. Was hoping for an NSD today to make up for yesterday but sadly OH managed to waste almost an entire can of expanding foam when renovating yesterday. There is more of it around the back yard than there is insulating the door frame, so another can or two of that will be required :-( I also need a birthday card for my neice!
Yesterday was a disaster really. We were stuck out all day buying necessities and ended up stocking up on toiletries/cleaning stuff at the cash and carry and spending £75 on renovation materials. Also had a McDOnalds for lunch as couldn't find anywhere cheaper.
So a terrible spending weekend but most couldn't be avoided. The renovation stuff is essential - we need our kitchen finished before baby gets here in 8 weeks :-O The other bits are essential in the long-term but not now. So we will save on not buying cleanser/cleaner/shampoo etc until after christmas at the earliest.
Oh also got the last baby essentials I need, so that was another £14.
On the plus side, we had nothing out for dinner last night so OH said he would go to take-away as we were desperate. After an hour of thinking about it, I managed to make us toast pizzas from some bread in the freezer toasted (was a whoopsie at 20p), left over bulked bolognese sauce and tons of grated moazzarella. It was far better than a takawaay and cost about 30p for two of us (bolognese was technically free as it usually goes in the bin if it's not enough for another meal).
SO as of tomorrow, Monday, I plan to have NSD's all week to make up for some of it.
This week plans are
[STRIKE]Get all ironing done[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Finish client work[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Get company accounts done[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Paint baby's skirting boards (pre-gloss paint - don't worry)[/STRIKE]
Chop up old floor boards to go to the tip.
Affiliate site as above
Try and get some of my main business website finished.
I'll be so busy with these (and don't have a lot of energy at this stage :-( so not sure if I will find time to generate extra revenue but will try. On the shopping front most meals are sorted as lots of meat in freezer but may need milk, fruit, veg later in week.
Hope everyone else is doing better than me.0 -
Hmm it's been a week since I updated my diary and in reality, we have not made any headway chipping away these debts.
However, the reason I haven't found time to get back on here is that business has gone mental and I haven't had a spare minute. This is a great thing.
So far, we've managed to stuff £850 in a savings account which offsets some of the debt - so that is huge progress. Thanks to how busy we both are we've barely had tim eto buy anything except DIY stuff and a couple of takeaways. Now the take-aways are bad but since I haven't set foot in a supermarket for over a week, I think we've under rather than overspent!
On the downside I'm 33 weeks preggers and the lack of mobility and mushy brain syndrome are really getting in the way of my enthuiasm and drive. Trying to mind over matter them, which amazingly works to an extent. I'm a right lazy mare when I feel sorry for myself - but here I am, chugging away on business stuff.
So - Tasks for this week
[STRIKE]Client 1 work X 2[/STRIKE]
Client 2 work X 3
Client 3 work X 2
Client 4 work X 20 (!!!)
Accounts (did last years last week but need tweaking and this years need sorting too)
Ironing
Spring clean living room
Spring clean Kitchen
Spring clean Utility room
Go for coffee with best friend
That's a basic list but the business seems to be generating new work all the time so think I will have to make a comprehensive schedule.
I don't want to count my chickens but I'm hoping ot offset half of the credit card debt by end October and hopefully offset the rfest with maternity pay in a lump sum. That's the target. Lets see how we do.....0
