Hi all,

As the title says...I have had to change my username due to grief from certain family and friends and as such have been AWOL since June.

I did run the £2 Savers Club thread before things ended up in the air, so I may have to update that.

The debt has risen substantially so I need to get on track with that again and I need to carry on with my plan again.

DOWN BUT NOT OUT!!!!!!

P.s Will update once I have the final figures.

  • Hi 40SM, thanks for the encouragement :D
  • I have redone the finances and checked the debts and we currently owe:

    £7936.53

Bad but not too bad, still manageable (just), I haven't included the loan that's linked to the mortgage or the overdraft. I figure I should just concentrate on one at a time and work at sorting the others out after.

DH is currently in the process of looking for another job, the company he is with is taking the pee and he feels it’s time to move on. He’s put his CV out so it’s a case of wait and see now.

My job is still going ok and I have put feelers out for a cleaning job, ideally I would like a bar job as well so will keep looking.

The £2 coins that I did manage to save recently got used last week, major lack of money and three days to payday…not a good scene.

I am doing a teaching assistant course and a maths course, the teaching assistant course I need a job to get further with it so have volunteered at a school locally in an effort to move forward with it. My maths I need to improve and I’m aiming to eventually do my GCSE maths.

So four paydays remaining until Christmas and a new year, gives me time to plan ahead and get my bum in to gear.

Only 4 pay days to Christmas  Good luck with the maths. I had to do O level maths eons ago in order to get into teaching. I was hopeless at school - well not encouraged or motivated. Ended up with 4 maths O levels - tutors wasnt taking any chances and I sat 4 different exam boards :rotfl:

  • Morning,

Well I’m back but haven’t been back to post…DH has been off work ill with a chest infection and only went back to work today. On the upside it was DD’s 5th birthday yesterday the bad thing is that she had some of her friends round…10 of them to be exact….never again! Most of them were obnoxious and spoilt little things; anyhow that’s over now for another year.

Had a lovely phone call from my tutor who’s been assigned to me for my maths course. I know what I need to do and when to do it so that I’m still on track to do my exam during half term in October.

I also sent off my first assignment for my TA course last week so fingers crossed it will be okay; I’m waiting to hear from the tutor for that one.

My plan for today is to clear the desk in the conservatory so that I can do my maths course today. The kids got a sandpit table yesterday and as it’s raining outside they can play with it inside whilst I do my course this afternoon.

NSD today, we aren’t going anywhere and I don’t need to buy anything.

I get paid on Thursday :D and we are waiting for DH’s expenses to come through too.

My mum came down a few weeks ago and brought us a load of meat and wine so the freezer is full and the wine has been put aside for Christmas. The kids got spoilt as usual. We also investigated Makro whilst she was down here, she normally gets things from the one near her. I need to do a meal plan for the rest of the month so that we aren’t spending unnecessarily.

Off to get motivated, have a good day everyone.

    Welcome back hon,

been wondering where you'd got to & was thinking of sending out search party - by boat if it's as wet in your corner as mine ;)

Will read through properly later but glad you're still as determined as ever :)
    xx
  • Hi Lula hun,

Not gone too far, just had to lie low amongst other things whilst the dust settled this end if you know what I mean.

I agree it is a tad wet this end isn't it? Tempted to throw kids out in the garden but I think they'd be pinning themselves to the back door if I tried lol.
  • Morning,

I tried to update last week but things didn’t quite turn out as planned. DH went back to work on the Tuesday and ended up in hospital with chest pains…turns out the infection had jumped from one side of his chest to the other and also gave him pleurisy on top of that. He’s okay now and after another week of antibiotics and being signed off work for a week, DH has now gone back to work. He’s still not 100% and I am a bit worried still as he’s on site but we’ll see how it goes.

So on to the money side of things, I must confess that the kids uniforms and DH’s travel have gone on the credit card…not a good scene but we haven’t got any reserves at the moment. We are still waiting for DH’s expenses to come in.

I need to get focused and sort out getting the finances in order again. Small steps are in order to begin with I think.

I’ve done the meal plan up to when DH gets paid again and with the meat that mum brought down for us, we have enough meat to last at least until next month.

On to the good news…I heard from my tutor and I have passed my first assignment on my teaching assistant course, just need to complete the rest.

I heard from my maths tutor and I need to do some extra work but so far so good.

On to today, I need to get the ironing done and get some coursework completed as well as the odd bit of housework.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Is it me or is it getting colder in the morning? I think we’ve had Summer now and are rapidly heading to Autumn at a rate of knots! Oh well, good while it lasted I guess, I do like Autumn as it’s nice and crisp but hate the soggy leaves.

Had an impromptu trip to London yesterday with the kids as DH forgot his Ventolin, so not a NSD as I was hoping…total spend was roughly £30.

Today will be a NSD as we aren’t going anywhere. My friend is dropping her boys here whilst she goes to the dentist.

On the money side of things, I have raided my purse and put change in the demi-john and I have put four £2 coins in my terramundi and one 50p and five 20p in my hippo bank thing, so off to a start again.

I have been on to the £2 savers thread and updated that again, so I’m just about up to date now.

I shocked myself yesterday; I got all the ironing done. I hate ironing with a vengeance so was pleased that I’d done it. I’ve just got to put it away now.

Is it really September tomorrow? Where has the time gone? These holidays have flown by this year and I’m surprised that this time next week the kids will be back at school.

Off to get showered and dressed and motivated before my friend comes over, have a good day everyone.
