I'm feeling quite soppy today after H2B gave me a cute surprise to come home to last night and know that in day to day life with the stresses of work, wedding planning and life in general, it is easy to forget just how special your other half is.
Sooooo...thought it would be nice to have a thread to brag about your loved one, tell us all how you know they are the one and why you are excited about being their forever
We all need a little romance every now and then

The nicest thing MrD has done recently was also the worst thing ever lol. Bear with me it does have a nice ending. Last week we went to Disneyland Paris with his family. Great I hear you cry - well I don't really like crowds (people are so rude), I don't like loud noises (hurrah for ear plugs), and most of all I don't like rides. So you can imagine I wasn't particularly looking forward to it. Well I bit the bullet and went on one ride (a straight forward roller coaster - no loops, no dips just weeeeee). Anyway I didn't mind that one so I went on a few more. Then MrD said I should go on the Hollywood Tower Hotel (Aka Tower of Terror). It is a dark vertical drop ride. And it was horrible. Absolutely horrible. My body tensed from the moment the ride started and I have never been so frightened in my whole life. That was the worse thing he has ever done - told me I'd probably like it lol. But the nice part - he said as soon as he realised I was hating it (my screams weren't normal and I was telling everyone how Horrible it was - I am still amazed I didn't swear) he was so worried about me, and as soon as we got off he gave me a MASSIVE hug. Fairly normal stuff? Well not really - neither of us are into public displays of affection (we'll hold hands but thats about it), and certainly not in front of his parents - but this was. It was a proper 'I want to look after you' hug that made me feel so safe and protected.

(PS didn't like the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom roller coaster for the two dips. But LOVED Chrush's Coaster ride - real twisty, darty, up and down, without that stomach floating feeling - went on that twice!)0 -
awe, what a nice idea for a thread! (esp as i'm scaring myself silly reading about all the nightmare wedding planning tales here!)
Well my fiance and I were best friends for 2 years before we got together. One of his first questions to me was 'so, what sort of music do you like'. I replied with my truthful but set-you-can't-lable-me reply "everything from the Levellers to the Sisters of Mercy". He laughed and agreed. Levellers = hippy folk; Sisters of Mercy = old school goth, so not a too common pairing. I knew then he was very special.
One day I was talking to another friend and the words "I think I'm falling in love with my best friend" just slipped out... she was fine once she recovered from the shock of thinking i meant her!
It gets a bit mushy from there on in, involving 6 months courting, an month's interailing in Italy, getting a 25yr mortgage after only dating for just over a year, and then being proposed to one magical evening in Florence...Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
my loved one always cheers me up, the annoying thing is he waits and watchs me like yesterday i was messing around with a tap mesure and he could see me sturggling (his a builder so is good all that mesuring stuff) and without me asking he got up and helped, he acts dumb but he isnt. the point im making is that lazy or messy he always pulls through when i really need him, and i love him for that
x Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0 -
My H2B is just thoughtful in every way,if i have a headache he will get me tablets and ask constantly if im ok do i want anything. He will suprise me and buy me flowers once in a while.he's not one that thinks about gifts usually just gives me money or vouchers but apparently he has had something put aside as a suprise gift to give me next year before the wedding.i have no idea what it is,he said he would buy my necklace and earrings anyway so cant be them all i know is he keeps giving his mum money to pay it off
He will even get up at any hr to save me from spiders lurking in the loo lol now thats love0 -
I knew my OH was the one for me as soon as we met, i felt like i had known him for years and felt comfortable in his company straight away. I had spent afew years being single and loving it

We have moved very quickly - met June 2009 was engaged by Nov 2009 and our daughter(planned) was born sept 2010 and now we are getting married
Everyone was quite shocked that i had met someone i wanted to settle down with. But i promised myself after being hurt badly that i would not settle for anything less than what i wanted from a relationship and he is everything i want and more.
Sorry if that was a lil bit soppy lol0 -
I think all of our replies go to show its the little things that count!!
Last night (it was 2years till our wedding date) my other half bought me home a bunch of flowers and tucked inside was an RSVP acceptance to our wedding. Inside he wrote 'just want to tell you I love you more than ever and I can't wait for you to be my wife'. Made me smile that he's counting down to it too!
Plus the fact that he has let me get away with eating his gingerbread man today!!
Its all the day to day things that make me really excited about being his wife!0 -

That's true love! He's a keeper.
Mine is that my H2B knows I'm a sucker for chocolate around that time of month, and whenever I get 'that' craving, he's already pre-empted it, and magic's up a chocky bar.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
my OH was 15 when he met me and i was 13 he refused to go near me because i wasnt 16 and even the day before my 16th he turned me down =(
we got together just before i was 17 and had our first baby 3 months before i was 18
so hes a gentleman lol
today the kids were being terrors work was horrendous havent stopped all day so about 20 mins ago he made me a coffee sat me in the chair and rubbed my feet (and he isnt a fan of feet) and is even letting em watch friends for the millionth time while he is doing the kids dinners and getting them ready for bed
and cos work is so crazy atm he is doing all the birthdays (both of our childrens and his sister) and organising everything for christmas!!!The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
This is a lovely thread, its nice reading everyones stories.
I know my oh is the one for me because:
1) Not many men could probably put up with my strops:rotfl:
2) I feel so safe when I snuggled up with him, and he knows the perfect timing of when I need a hug
3) He does little things that wouldnt seem much to other people but to me they mean everything
4) Fate bought us together- I was only young and never thought I would meet Mr right in a club, took his number and was going to delete it but a friend made me text him, we have been together ten and half fab years!
5) We do really odd little things (like faces etc at each other or certain songs)- everyone else would think we are nutters but it makes us smile.0 -
I knew my now hubby was the one for me when he held my sick bag on our first holiday together:eek:.........I had only ever flown to spain before...2 hour flight, and we did a 8 hour flight to visit his friends in U.S.A............I was really not well!
Met in September of the one year, took that holiday in the March of the following year, got engaged same year and married the following, I think you 'just know' when you have found the right one.
