I met my OH just about 6 months before I turned 40. I was a single mum with boys aged 12 and 9 and beginning to think my life was done with. I knew he was the one when I saw DS2 lean up against on when sitting on the sofa watching TV and wasn't even aware he'd done it. My boys have always seen their dad plenty since we split but DS2 in particular liked having a male figure around the place, even though we didn't live together for ages. He didn't just take on me and all my moods, he took on 2 young boys and totally appreciated how he comes 2nd to them. Now after 7 years together, while I'm missing my little boys being little, I'm looking forward to me and OH having quality grown-uo time together

Great thread!
My H2B has taken on all the rent and most of the bills so that I can go back to college, and although this has obviously meant that he has had to make sacrifices he has not once complained of not being able to afford things he wants. When I first brought up the subject of returning to study he was instantly supportive and excited for me.
He also went to a chemist when I was 'caught short' on holiday and feeling very ill, having looked up the relevant word in Spanish first! I'm not sure that I could have dealt with that particular embarrassing conversation in an unfamiliar language, so the fact that he was willing to do it frankly amazed me!!!
And he never stops telling me that I'm gorgeous.

When I met h2b I was just out of a complicated relationship and didnt want another one. I thought Id have some no strings fun,bit of a fling and keep it very casual! HA!! On our first date there was not a single awkward silence, I felt like Id known him forever and I actually made the first move to kiss him! 2 weeks later he asked me to be his "girlfriend" and I said no, I didnt want to be in a relationship. I then spent the next 12 hours regretting it but unable to speak to him as my battery had died and it was the middle of the night. The next morning I called him and asked if the offer was still there! We'll of been together 7 years next week! However it wasnt till we'd been together 14 months and my father passed away that I knew he was "the one". I obviously loved him, but it was going through that bereavement and seeing how supportive, loving and kind he was, I knew I could never be without him!
The fact that hes the first man ever who loves me for ME,and doesnt try to change me, encourages me and makes me feel like a queen, means for me he's mr perfect!!
Aaaw writing all this has made me forget for an instant that Im downstairs and his snoring upstairs is so loud its like lying next to him, or that he hasnt taken the rubbish out like I asked him too!!PMSL!!Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 2013

Loving this thread!
I met my DH online, quite unintentionally really, after joining a dating site whilst angry and drunk. I was off to OZ and NZ for a whole month and enjoying my very happy single life. (Well apart from that one incident.)
But I'd paid for a month of dating so I wanted to get my money's worth :rotfl: That sounds dreadful, just chat and banter not seedy stuff
Anyway we emailed and IM'd for months before meeting. We met at a beer festival (crowds and lots of people I knew there) and I knew he was 'the one' when he sat down cross-legged in a field to eat his Hog-Roast. I can't begin to explain why!
We had a Hog-Roast at our wedding reception.
I realise every day how lucky I am to have met him, because there is always something, no matter how small that he does every day which makes me happy or thankful."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

This made me giggle!!
'I realise every day how lucky I am to have met him, because there is always something, no matter how small that he does every day which makes me happy or thankful'
And this is a lovely way to sum it all up! The day to day little things that make life happier
Today I'm feeling a bit poorly, so my h2b has just called to say he's not going to the gym and instead is bringing home the PS3 lego harry potter game (I'm Harry Potter obsessed) for us to play together!
He knows how to cheer me up!

aww what a lovely thread!!
the first thing my OH said to me was a drunken groan whilst lying in a mates driveway after a day of drinking with his mates on rugby cup final day so it didnt start to well.... but how i knew my OH was the one for me
1) He holds my hair back when i'm vomiting (food poisoning today)
2) he wakes up in the middle of the night to me screaming from night terrors, but he soothes me until i go back to sleep even though he is up for work at 4am.
3) he tells me how beautiful i am every day
4) even after 3 years i still get butterflies when i see him and this has never happened with any previous boyfriends.Married my amazing hubby on 8th September 2012 :j:j0 -
My blokey is definately my one. If you'd have told me 4 years ago I'd be where I am today I'd have laughed, I was described as 'commitment phobic' by my friends, I'd had relationships but was fickle and fiercely 'independent' (which I thought made me a proper modern lady!). I suppose my independence was my way of protecting myself from settling down with the 'wrong' one.
My blokey is passionate, intelligent and makes me laugh - he knows so much about so much and I marvel at the facts he stores in his brain! He adores me, and he has no idea how special he is. Life has been challening but I know, without a doubt, that whatever life throws at us we will get through it, because we are a pair, he is my equal and I just don't make sense without him, and I know he feels the same.
And he brings me cups of tea (even though he is a bit rubbish at because he is a devout coffee drinker!) :rotfl:
Trying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often!

I'm loving reading all of these... It's lovely

I know my OH is the one because...
- He makes me feel safe, even tho he's skinnier than me and is built like a rake, he makes me feel so safe when I'm in his arms
- He can make everything better with a hug; I just melt and so do all my worries
- He makes the BEST cup of tea ever. FACT!

- During the time of the month, he'll warm my heat sheep up in the microwave and insists that if I'm in pain that I wake him up so he can cuddle me better
- He makes me laugh cos he is a daft sod
- He is genuine and truly believes (and tells me) that I am the most beautiful woman in the world and he makes even me believe it
- I can talk to him about anything - since the start I could do this and he is the only one I can talk about anything to
- He is a geek and we can debate various things together cos he understands loads (more than me!)
- He'll put up with me watching rubbish tv (tho he secretly enjoys it)
- Oh and he smells lovely
- Whenever I see him after work my face automatically smiles cos I'm excited to see him again
- I actually miss him when he's gone to work
- He is gorgeous... More so than David Tennant and I LOVE DT! :rotfl:
❤Planned our wedding, still planning lessons❤
