in Techie Stuff
I've just copied a load of links for a new thread on the techie board but when I've come to save them it says the message is too long. I tried copying half of it to a new thread but it only copies the words (not the link). Is there any way I can copy this or do I have to start deleting stuff? :P

Martin asked me to say I'm a volunteer Board Guide on the Utilities board, facilitating its smooth running. I can move & change posts there. However I do not read every post.

Scat,
Thanks for reply!
I've done all the links as here but when you try to copy to another thread, it just copies the "here" but no link (and the whole point is having the link!) :P :P :P :PTorgwen.....................

Hmm ???
Think you will have to copy the full address, strange as I seem to remember copying to an email.

Thanks Scat!
I've managed to copy half of the thread to a new one by removing the [ from before the [url= (well once I realised that was the easiest way). That way the link was exposed, and still is cos I'm not touching it tonight (!), and I was able to copy the full link minus the [ which I'll have to put back in tomorrow!
Thanks for your help.
P.S. What Malarky's done looks like a good idea. (Do cats bark?)Torgwen.....................

Hi Fran.
Sorry I could'nt help you with this, I know some stuff but really needed to know exactly what extra facilities you have at your disposal to move these about.
Hopefully I'll learn eventually, hope you get sorted.0 -
sorry, i didn't notice the new pm til today
guess u got it sorted now anyway though0 -
I may be misunderstanding the problem, but if you want to reduce the length of links, try http://!!!!!!.com
This might help make your message shorter0 -
Pat, fragster,duncanc,
Thanks for the replies. I had copied a load of links into one thread for the locked threads at the top of the techie board. If you pressed preview that was ok, but when I came to save the post it said the post was too long! I tried to save half the post by copying to a new thread but as I had already done the neat links thing (ie I had "here" instead of "http:// etc...." , it would only copy the word "here" and not the link underneath it. I got round it by deleting the "[" from the start of the "[url=http:// ...etc...." which meant the url showed again. I then copied to another post and added the "[" back in.Torgwen.....................

Hi Fran, I used "{" in post #1, to stop the code acting, noo uses an extra space after"[" or before "]"
Also, I have been using "link=", which seems to do exactly same as "url=", hence some confusion
