Advised to leave NHS pension – Miss-selling?

Long story short after the joining the NHS pension scheme, my wife was, after a few years was advised to leave a join another scheme by that schemes representative – when we got together I suggested this probably wasn’t the best thing to have done – having read a little on pensions trying to sort my own – is there any possible miss-sellling claim here – any advice greatly appreciated even if the answer is simply no and to try and make up the lost time via the buyback system - cheers.

In the 1990s there was an industry review of this kind of misselling case (ordered by the Government) and it should have been picked up then.

Your wife should write to the pension company saying that she wishes to make a formal misselling complaint and ask them to investigate the case.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

This should have been up under pension review. It doesnt mean it will be classed as a mis-sale. Everything you say suggests it should be but there should have been questionnaires sent out in the 90s asking your wife to complete about the way the sale of the plan went and what advice was given. They often influenced how the pension review treated the case.

The review was handled quite well, in the end and non-responders were chased a number of times. Does you wife (or you) recall any such documents. Would have been around 1993-97.

Well got the paperwork together -fired off an email and received a prompt reply informing me they would send a form out to confirm the details they currently hold before compensating (my wife) - They also cited they had tried to make contact with her at an old address to resolve matters earlier !!!!!!! Great outcome - :T

Don't know if this is related but the day after sending off the email my wife received an enquiry asking if she wished to opt back into the Second State Pension? Will start another thread I think - just when I thought it was sorted.................

THANK YOU to eveyone who was kind enough to advise me that i should chase this - cheers
