Save The Date Magnets

I love the idea of 'save the date' magnets as the wedding is just before Christmas next year and I want to give our travelling relatives as much notice as possible. I don't particularly want to send a card with the magnets as I am trying to save money where possible but I have heard stories of the magnets getting 'stuck' in the post - sorting machines etc. I have seen on some of the American sites 'magnet card carriers' which are basically little cards with the corner slots cut to place the magnet into. I cannot find these anywhere on the UK sites - does anyone have any ideas of where I can find these? Or any other ideas? :)

    Hi,

I think they are a great idea, does Vista Print have anything?

  • Hi Fawny

No they don't have anything like that- I am currently looking at buying card myself and scoring the slits in the corners to hold the magnets!

Hi. I got magnets from vistaprint and some matching flat notecards with envelopes. Put little slits in the notecards myself and slotted in the magnets. Got 50 for abot £17 for the magnets and notecards by joining vistaprint, waiting for about a week and then using the email offers they send. HTH

I did Vistaprint STDs - and used photocorners to stick them to a piece of notepaper to send them. I got pretty brown paper ones from Paperchase, and used two (diagonal corners) to stick each on. So far, they have all arrived fine, I think!

Kelpla, I've just noticed that Vistaprint do flat notecards which you could adapt to suit your magnets and then score the corners to hold them. And they come with matching envelopes. And best of all, if you sign up to Vistaprint they will send you emails offering freebies - you just pay the postage. So you could get a set of cards (with envelopes), a matching pen and something else free! Make the most of the postage and get 3 free items at a time. Then next week order some more free cards and so on and so on.

    Hope that helps. x

I used Vistaprint. I uploaded a photo to their website, put it into a very flat magnet, it then let you type over it so I just wrote the save the date details on, and you only paid for the postage!
  • Hiya,

I've just finished ours this weekend, made them myself using a business card template, microsoft publisher design (with an image from the web to match the invitations we will be ordering) and then laminated them and trimmed them with a guilotine (sp??).
I bought some self adhesive magnetic strip from ebay as well as small envelopes and they're all going out in the post today. I can't see how there'd be any posting problems with them, the magnet isn't that strong but we'll see...

I have one on my fridge now and think they look great! :T
