Credit File

Hi
I am looking for some advise on my credit file. I have a number of defaults registered (thankfully most debt is now paid off). A number of my accounts were sold to DCA. Most lenders show a £0.00 with a D and then any remainder balance now shows under the DCA with a D.
However GE Capital still have the original amount as showing as owing and the DCA also shows whats outstanding. Should GE Capital not now show as £0.00 because they way I look at it that although I now owe much less on this debt as I am now paying the DCA it still looks like i owe almost £2500 more than I actually do.
I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense but I am currently trying to get our credit files clear so that we show as £0.00 against everything but I am struggling to understand somethings on my file.
Thanks

Hi
When a debt is sold or passed to a DCA the creditor and DCA decide between them who will keep your credit file up to date going forward. If the creditor is going to do it them must reflect changes - so the balance owed should be going down over time. Or if the DCA is going to keep the file then the creditor should remove their entry and show nothing outstanding.
You should only have each default you have showing once.
Write to the GE and the DCA and dispute the entires and say that you require them to be corrected.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
