Hee Hee I gave it a go and look what I got!! Barcleycard!

After reading various posts on settlement figures I thought I would be brave and give it a go, so just rang Barcleycard,
Balance £3953.45
They initially gave me a settlement figure of £2174 which she brought down 30 seconds later after I was silent to £1976.73, as soon as the letter from them arrives to confirm this I will be off to get that one sorted.. 50% saved with a phone call. EUREKA!! :j

Well done! Very good work for 1 phonecall (and especially since it's the original creditor!)

You must have been in some difficulties with them then or late payer etc? As I tried it last week with Barclays on 8k, they wouldn’t cut a penny off!

Not in arrears but this is one of 4 debts being handled by the CCCS after I lost my job 2 yrs ago. Still didnt imagine I would get such a good settlement figure though as there have never been any missed payments or defaults and they are still getting interest from me. I got the CCCS involved at an early stage as soon as I ran into difficulties. Off to try capital one and the Halifax now!

PS I should say that this money to clear these is being given to me by my uncle so for his sake I need to get everything down as cheaply as possible. :)

"Hee hee, I got away without paying half of what I owe to Barclaycard, who will no doubt be passing the cost of this on to the rest of their customers somehow or another..." Excuse me if I don't join the celebrations, as another of Barclaycard's customers who fully intends to pay off my balance..

You can't afford to pay back money that you borrowed (incidentally approximately £4000), yet you have a house that you rent out, and you are about to go and spend the best part of £4000 on range cookers, american fridge-freezers and laptops for your kids??

    Troll, surely?

Update: You're spending £60k on home improvements across your 2 properties and yet can't afford to repay the £4k you owe Barclaycard?!

If this is in fact what it looks like on the face of it then it is an absolute disgrace and just another example of the broken society we have right now.

Sorry if I too won't join in with the congratulations.
