Jacobs

Hi could do with a little help please.
I owe £400 in council tax which went to jacobs they came around listed items and set up a payment for £5 a week .I've been paying £10 a week to over pay incase I got behind .my oh last his job and we missed afew payments .
Had a letter on Friday saying Jacobs are coming for the money phone them as I can't pay the £230 off in one go and also why am I not ahead with the payments and they said as I paid £10 a week that's what my payment plan is now as it overrides the £5 .they also said there's nothing they can do now and just sit and wait for someone to come .

Overpayments dont work like that where these unfeeling twits are concerned. You would have been better off if you'd just put the extra money into a coffee jar instead.

I'm afraid you're going to have to start the process all over again and explain the situation. They cant get blood out of a stone, but if I were you, I'd move everything of value somewhere else so it cant appear on the next inventory. Alternatively, where council tax is concerned, it actually counts as one of the only debts where I would suggest you borrow from your friends and family to meet the demand. Dont go to PDLs as you'll only get yourself in a worse mess, but if there is any chance of a loan from family or an advance on wages, I'd take it. Who else can you rob to pay this? Can you default on a less serious debt to pay this one off and then square up the mess later?
