Gaviscon alternatives - shop own brands worth a try?

Hiya,
Just a quick question really, but has anyone tried shop's own-brand versions of Gaviscon?
I can't really afford to regularly buy big bottles of the real thing and the cheaper bottles would be a big saving... I just wondered if anyone has found it worth buying? And possibly, which is the best own-brand to try?
TIA

If it's Gaviscon Original the active ingredients are:
Sodium bicarbonate 133.5 mg, Calcium carbonate 80 mg, Sodium alginate 250 mg. (per 5 ml)
and some aniseed flavouring.
Exactly the same active ingredients in many other preparations including Boots Heartburn Relief - Aniseed Flavour- 150ml. However Boots is £2.69 but Gaviscon is £2.55 from ChemistDirect. So I suppose it depends how much you're paying for Gaviscon.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
If you don't mind heartburn relief in tablet form i would recommend Settlers, you can pick them up cheap in Home Bargains if you have one and i think they work better than Gaviscon. For a good liquid substitute i can recommend Boots own brand, the big bottle is about a fiverThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
