i need a new sky box

Anyone know if there is a way to get a free replacement sky box out of sky tv.

I`ve been a subscriber for about 8 years, but my box is always locking up now.

i did ring them up but they wanted £85 to send an engineer, that does include a refurbished box if i need it.

If you threaten to cancel do you get anything with sky??

Some have had success with threatening to cancel and got a free box or repair

i threatened to cancel and got upgraded to sky plus for free . all i pay os £10 extra a month (its free if you subscribe to movies or sports).
This was in october, my box broke last month and i just got a brand spanking new one (the latest white model) with DB sound and a 40 gb hard drive!!

We had a broken sky+ box, phoned sky said we wanted to cancel caused too many arguments when things did not record, at first they offered engineer for £64.00 then £32.00 I said it was not worth it the arguments we were having over sky were not worth it they sent a brand new sky+ box for free and engineer said don't ever pay for repairs - hope this helps be determined that you want to cancel

if u r on a contract then u can get new kit every year if u cancelled. there r lots of boxes on ebay. how do u know its the box? theres more probs with lnb's, dish alignment, cable connections etc but assume the box if u want 2!
