Virtual Assistant - is it virtually a dream?

Hi,
I've got fantastic admin/office skills that could be put to good use at evenings and weekends to make extra ££ however the "virtual assistant" websites all sound a little too good to be true.
Does anyone currently do this? How much income do you make per month and is it doable with a full time job?
Thanks!:j

It depends what sort of "websites" your talking about?
There certainly are vPAs that are doing it full time and making a good living out of it but there are thousands more that do it and make next to nothing.
I am assuming you are talking about some form of agency which just passes you the work?0 -
Hi,
I've worked through freelancing sites before and it's quite hard to just do it eves and weekends. The work is no easier than a normal job, it's just that sitting at home is more comfy than an office
If you are a virtual assistant you usually need to be available certain hours of the day if they need to contact you. You may have to work unusual business hours if you are supporting people in other countries.
Some people are looking to hire a VA to complete a specific project i.e update this excel spreadsheet or some just look to hire someone for x amount of hours per week to do whatever jobs come to mind.
Have a look on elance.com at the types of jobs that are about and you can see you could fit them in eves/weekends. Plus the good thing with elance is, is it's your own reputation and portfolio you are building up not an agencies and it's down to you to provide quality work
