New Business Bank Account Question

I’m wondering if someone can help. I’m writing this on behalf of my partner and a friend who our looking to go into partnership and start their own small online business for a little extra money. They have not started trading yet and are looking to have a bank account set up before they do so. When applying on-line it asked for their company registration name and also company registration number. This leads to their question and that is how do they get a registration number and do they even have to have one? They have both filled out their self employment forms ready for when they start working. Any information someone could provide would be great!

They are possibly selecting the wrong option as registration numbers would in connection to a Ltd rather than a partnership. There will be an early question in the process of what their legal structure is, if they are being a standard unlimited partnership they should choose this or possibly its "old" name of simply Partnership.

For this legal structure there is no registration number or name as there is no requirement for an unlimited partnership to be registered.
