Dismal Weather for solar panels

Hi All
3.68kw system fitted 10 days ago and the weather in the NE of england has been dismal. Running at about 50% less than the PVGIS prediction over the past 10 days for August for my system. However the one good day produced a max of 20kwh which is double the PVGIS daily of 10.KWH. So not too pleased with the investment at the Moment. Anyone else experiencing such low output this past few days.
Best Regards Dave

My lowest day was just over 5kWh on a 4kW system. The best was 25kWh. Quite a difference!

Yup, pretty low since start of August, after a good June and July.

My own system went in last October (near the end), and November - February were all 20% or more below prediction. Since then, March - July were all 10% or more over prediction!! So it just goes to show how variable it can be with the weather conditions etc.

I guess I'd rather have it overperforming in the summer than the winter!!!

Thanks guys, The only upside of having underchieved and only one day when the power reached the the maximum panel output( or slightly above) is that with consumption being an average of 1.5 kw( hardly ever reached by panels output) is that I used most if not all of it.

  • We're in Cumbria and I've been surprised at just how low it's been for the last 10 days or so, we only generated 4kwh one day, the lowest we'd had prior to that since March was 7kwh. Did 18 yesterday though, things are picking up :-) Can't really complain we did weeks of very day performing between 20 - 29kwh/day.

My best day this month (1/8) was 25.78 and although I would have said the weather has been poor there have only been 3 days this month that have produced less than expected.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at the Sunny Beam at about 12 noon. There was a black cloud in the south and the reading was a magnificent 18W! A couple of days later it read 4,400W (briefly).

I too am finding large fluctuations in output throughout the day & from day to day. max output 3.8kw for a 3.68 rated system. However brief. The last couple of days have seen an improvment and only now slightly down on the PVGIS prediction of 10kwh per day for my system.
