Broken molar, previous root canal, West London dentist

Hello all

I'm working as a doctor on-call in a London hospital.

Was eating some crisps when I felt a big crunch in my jaw. Initially thought I'd bitten something strange from the crisp packet.

Sadly I have cracked one of my upper left maxillary molars!

I had a root canal on it in 2006.

Sadly I do not have a regular NHS dentist.

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in West London - Chiswick, Ealing, Fulham etc... area.

I assume I will need a crown if the tooth can be salvaged.

Any idea of costs?

Can these be done on the NHS or would I be better off going private?

Thanks in advance

Sent you a PM Mr Rush
  • Hi Mr Rush

Best way to find a good dentist is to ask friends/family for recommendations for who they see. If you do require a crown you could be paying £204 for a nhs crown (likely to be silver coloured) or from £300+ for a Private crown (white) or £500+ for a gold one.

    Hi Mr. Rush,

I am in the same situation (looking for a dentist in Putney or West London) and since I don't have many contacts in London I don't really know who to ask to for reccomandation.

I have been reading many forum and for now these are some practices I have found :

North End road (Fulham/West Kensington) - Chan
Wandsworth Park (Putney) - Petrie Tucker Partners
Hammersmith - (not NHS, but affordable private prices) Brookgreendental

Will send you a pm with the links as I am not allowed to post them.

I have no idea how reliable these info are and I would much appreciate to hear from someone with any direct experience..

    Hello everyone

Thank you for the PM suggestions.

I saw the emergency dentist at local walk in service to have a temp. filling put in and the broken piece of tooth removed.

After much digging around I actually went to Manchester to see a dentist who is a family friend.

Looks like I need a crown plus some work on other teeth.

Will be going back on a couple of occasions to have it all sorted.
