Lowell - Defaults on my credit file

I've been working hard over the last few years to get my credit file back into order. I have 1 CCJ which is satisfied, & a default from NEXT which will disappear soon.
I was ready to clap myself on the back & say well done, when I decided to check my credit file with 'Noddle'. The credit file they sent me made for awful reading. Basically, there is an entry on my file from a previous address, which I haven't lived at for over 6 years.
It is from a company called Lowell, which apparently are a telecoms company. It says I defaulted in 2006, although it was updated on 01/08/11. It looks awful, big black D's all over the report.
I have no idea who Lowell are, I've never heard of them or from them & yet find that they have been marking defauolts for £299 all over my file.
Does anyone know who they are & what I might be able to do about the defaults on my file?
I don't even remember having a mobile phone contract back then - I had a pay as you go phone & that was great for what I needed it for.
I've emailed Lowell (I hope it's the right company) and asked for any information on this.
I did have a load of mail from Orange sent to me over a long period of time. However, I sent them all back as they were sent to someone with a totally different surname to me, but at my address. Could this be related?
Any help you guys could give would be gratefully recieved.
Thank in advance.

Lowells are a debt collection agency0

Thanks for the reply. Silly question, but why would a debt collection agency that I've never heard of be placing defaults on my file for the last 3 1/2 years? It looks like the 'original' default was back in 2006, but there seems to be default marks every month for 3 years 8 months. My maths is lousy, but even I can work out that 3yrs 8 months on top of april 2006 does not make August 2011!
Big question - if the original default was april 2006, that should drop off in 2012. However, as Lowell keep marking the monthly statement as default, does this mean that I basically have 45 defaults? (3 years 8 months worth of defaults, plus the original one)
I wouldn't mind if I actually owed them money - but seeing as I don't know them from Adam & don't recall having a mobile phone contract back then, I'm a bit annoyed about it.
Sorry to come across as a bit of an idiot, I'm still in shock I think & just want to find a way to sort this out.0 -
In a very similar situation, moved to new adress over 3 years ago debt free, suddenly I have just recieved a letter from lowell asking to pay £153 to them for a O2 mobile debt, like you I only ever used pay as u go.
I have given them 28 days to send me all proof of this so called account that I was supposed to have had, what amazes me is if I had owed O2 money how come they have never contacted me in the past and it went straight to Lowell with a demand.
Its worth reading the limitation act 1980
6 years with no contact over a debt its no repayable, thats if you ever owed it in the first place.
confused by what you said, there is an entry on my file from a previous address, which I haven't lived at for over 6 years.

If thats right you defaulted 5 years ago at your present address 2006-2011.0 -
I WAS living at the previous address until May 2005, which has actually made me think. I now can't work out why there would be ANY account at my previous address, never mind defaulting on it. If I contact Lowell, seeing as it's less than 6 years since the date of default, would that mean that the 'debt' would then be chased by them? It wouldn't be statute barred next april if I contacted them now would it?
I'm lucky I guess, at the moment, because they are not chasing me for it. They just keep marking the account as defaulting each month.
Is it worth challenging this with them or is it better to write a note of correction on my credit file?0
