I am in the EU but not in the UK so I am not able to buy a Kindle from the UK. I do not need one as my netbooks serve very well as ebook readers with TTS. My downloads are from the US.
This week we can store our ebooks on Amazons Cloud facility but our PC's need to allocate 50mb for allowing this to work. So using Safari (or google chrome if you prefer) you can use this 'Cloud' facility for reading your ebooks. I do not have Kindle for PC (Whispersync) on my netbooks only on my laptop, but I can still read my ebooks using the netbooks.
Furthermore they have allocated 5 gb storage for me to upload files onto their Cloud Server.
So not having spent a penny on a Kindle or an ebook, Amazon have also given me 5gb storage as well.

NB : While talking about free, the Spanish town hall in the area where I am based ensure that all their out lying villages receive free WIFI 24/7. The Spanish are the tops as far as I am concerned, they are fabulous people.

Interesting.
The cloud facility, which I admit I don't know much about, seems to be the way a lot of people are going.
This negates the need for big hard drives, therefore carrying weighty laptops, therefore giviing you more portability. The only thing that would worry me is security. Would you use the cloud to store your personal data on? I know that you can back up your PC/Netbook/Laptop online, and have been able to do for some time, but that worries me for the same reason.
Just call me a born worrier!Life's what you make it....

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?0
