50th wedding anniversary

Hi,
I have been invited to my friends' 50th wedding anniversary dinner. I am really looking forward to it but it is my first and I have no idea what conventions are.
Am I supposed to bring a gift and if so, what kind? I know that 50th is gold but I am on a tight budget so that is not an option, yet I don't want to arrive empty handed if something is expected.
I can't really ask them and I don't know any of their other guests.
I hope someone here can help.
Thank you.

How about a rose with Gold in the title?
A pot of gold?
Box of All Gold or Ferrero Rocher?
Wine with Gold on the label?
When we attended one we took a token - or something personal to the couple wrapped in gold paper?0 -
A picture frame with gold in the surround, a gold coloured plant pot cover, a pot of bright yellow chrysanthemums.0

I was so caught up in this thing that I could not think outside the box.
Thank you both for your help. I'll go shopping on Tuesday
