Old debts

Morning all.
We've been on a dmp with CCCS for over 8 years but still have about the same left to go. Circumstances changed and we were advised to go br. Been preparing but still have niggling doubts and looking at our options again. We got our credit report and a couple of the larger debts aren't on there. Is that usual? CCCS have been paying them but we have never heard anything .The main one is a loan to HSBC which was paid through Metropolitan Collections. Very grateful for any advice

After 6 years the debts fall off your credit report if they were defaulted prior to that.

Since you have been paying, they are not statute barred however.

Have you looked at your reports from all the CRA's - Equifax, Experian and Call Credit? Some creditors only report on one or two of these.

  • Thanks for the reply and advice. Because these debts are so old and we've been on the dmp for so long would they be likely to accept full and final settlements. We've owe 2 creditors about £4,000 and a couple at about £3-400. I'm off work sick following an operation last week and looking at a 4 month recovery. This was what made us look at br but to be honest it scares the hell out of us

  • Looked at experian and equifax but not heard of the other one. We're not trying to avoid paying but just assumed they stayed on til they were settled. Thanks again
