NHS Pension annual statement

I've often seen it mentioned on here that you should get an annual pension statement. I receive these on my old pensions from previous jobs but after 3 years in the NHS have never received one from the NHS. is this right? Is it because it's a final salary pension?

    Final salary schemes.

Still working & in scheme - annual benefit statement required.

Left employment (or opted out of scheme) - statement of benefits required within 2 months of Trustees being told, then nothing required until retirement.

I've worked for the NHS since 1976 and have never received an "annual benefit statement" . You can of course get a statement of your estimated pension at any time though it takes a few weeks to come through.

You need to write to NHS pensions with your NI and Staff Number. They will not automatically send you an annual statement. I apply annually for a statement for my wife's pension. Address below:

    NHS Pensions
    Hesketh House
    200-220 Broadway
    Fleetwood
    Lancashire
    FY7 8LG

The website may well have a calculator as well, but you will need to know your exact number of days NHS qualifying employment and your current band/salary.

Scottish system (SPPA) normally sends out an annual statement. With the Pension Choices this has been put on a back burner. I asked when they were resuming and their best guess was late 2011 early 2012.

Ah, this may be because NHS is a Relevant Statutory Scheme, which don't always have to follow the same rules as those of us in private sector.
