Dfs/Scs discount oppurtunities?

I am seriously considering purchasing 2 leather sofas from somewhere like Dfs/Scs or 1 of the other big sofa specialists. Before i go with cash in hand - Am i wasting my time asking for a discount?Have they any leeway to budge?

I'll always try for a discount but i'd rather know in advance if i'm flogging a deadhorse..

Thanks in advance.

They're okay, but check Land Of Leather first if you want to go to this sort of place (not implying they are bad or anything).

With all the major luxury show room furniture stores, the price is marked up an additional 2-3 times so that they can throw in 3 years interest free credit.

This is why they are known mainly as financial institutions with a furniture front now.

I am not saying that they are bad places to go to - in fact with furniture places you need to sit and try the furniture before you buy.

The sales people are unlikely to budge on already discounted furniture unless you have a super large order or they need to meet a sales target they are not meeting.

Having said that, they certainly have room to lower their margins, so give it a go. I find it difficult because I usually go for the 'I can get it cheaper elsewhere' tactic, but I never see the same furniture (living room I mean, not beds etc) in more than one chain.
