There's a large new store opening tomorrow in my city with the above name. I won't be in town then, and I'm off on holiday on Monday for the week. Just wondering if anyone knows what it's like? Is it a Wilkinsons type shop? Are the deals good?

Rotherham town centre has provided another example that it is bucking the national retail trend after it was revealed that Discount UK is to take the former Marks & Spencer's retail unit on College Street.

According to the report Discount UK is "the new brand from Yorkshire company Poundworld", so I would guess this is a cunning plan from Poundworld to expand its business by selling stuff that doesn't cost a pound.

We've got a Discount UK store near us. I've only checked it out once but it seems very similar to Home Bargains - a mixture of well known brands and generic stuff. They do a good range of toiletries, household stuff and a limited selection of foods (snacks, tins, packets etc). They seem to have a few good headline deals, but I probably wouldn't make a special trip there, but might pop in if I was in the area.
