HELP! My poor Kenwood chef (image heavy)

Options
I was just making some pizza dough in my A701a (which I've only had for a few weeks :() and there was a clunk. I noticed that the dough hook wasn't spinning around so I stopped the motor and opened it up.
I took out the dough hook and the whole bit that the tool clips into came away with the hook when I pulled it out.

Everything is still intact, there wasn't any grinding or nastiness, all metal parts look intact still and it is easy to slide in and out. There is a square nut on the top of the bit which has dropped out.

When I look up into the middle bit, I can't see a square hole for the nut to fit into.

Has anyone had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?
I'm so upset (boo hoo :().
I'm so sad, I'm a woman on the edge after my 2 hours sleep post night shift!

Just to update, DH and I have dismantled the machine. We didn't need to in the end but it has had a good clean inside now so it's all good!
He used a spanner to take the nut off from the bottom of the orbital silver bit. When we got the mechanism off, a cog fell out which has burst apart. So now I need to replace the cog and the machine should work again with no bother. I'm off to search ebay now to see if I can find one!

I too have one of these in a rather distinctive blue and white colour - like you I absolutely love it (was acquired from late MIL's house), I recently bought a dough hook but have yet to try it out!

Hope you find the spare part soon :D

A quick update, I managed to find the replacement part from here http://kenwoodchefrestore.co.uk/Spares.htm it is the original planet hub gear. It's cost me £13.98 including P&P which I'm reasonably happy with (well, I'd rather not have had to spend the money but at least I've managed to find the part and have almost repaired my machine myself)!

Just saw your post, I bought my dough hook seperately from ebay for £11.99 inc P&P. I love it! Definately use it lots, in fact it's what I use it for the most is pastry and dough :)
