default entered after account cancelled - virginmedia hi all, im hoping for some advice please. I was a virginmedia customer until april this year at which point i was out of my 12 month contract and ended my account with them to join sky. There was an outstanding amount with VM of £100 which i sadly forgot to pay due to me enjoying my sky services so much! a default was registered on my vm account in july for the outstanding amount. Can they do this as the account was technically cancelled in the april and thus the amount due would not be a default as the agreement was not in force at this point.
any advice or am i just stuck with it?

Ending the contract does not mean you don't still owe the money.
If you read the contract, you'll probably find words to this effect.0 -
byebye good credit , hello vanquis is the sayingDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

The problem you have is that you owed £100, and you knew it. Defaults are generally entered after accounts have closed, usually by the creditor for non-payment, but closed all the same.
Best bet is to get it paid before they sell the debt on and you get hounded by a scumbag DCA. How did you become aware of the default, out of interest?0 -
i got refused for a hire purchase agreement and paid for my credit report. The only bad thing on there, not even late payments on any account, was the default from vm0

I'm very surprised that we haven't had someone on here blaming Sky for this. Mind you, in his first post Welly-59 did sort of insinuate it was their fault.
:D "There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
