HELP Urgently APPRECIATED FOR A DEFAULT

Hi everyone
I would be very grateful for any help. Recently, I was the victim of card fraud, so have signed up to Equifax for the first time. Upon signing up, I have noticed that I had a default applied to my account from Next Ltd. I didn't recall receiving a default notice, so I phoned up and they sent me out what they said was the default notice.
However, the letter that they sent out does not state DEFAULT Notice, neither does it quote the Credit Consumer Act 1974. The letter is dated 26th Feb 2006 and payment to be made by 16th March 2006.
The letter is from the DEBT collection dept. Although, I have never received this letter until I requested this a week ago.
The default was registered on all credit reference agencies on the 24th March 2006. The account was settled in Oct 2006.
Have had credit agreements taken out since 2006, which, when I think of it, may have been higher interest because of this one default.
Does anyone think I have a case for the removal of the default? Or is this a correct default notice.
Many thanks in advance

A couple of things are you sure this was your account and is the information accurate? If you believe it to be inaccurate you need to write a letter to the Equifax and request verifiable proof that this is your account and that it is 100% verifiable and accurate. They must respond within 30 days if they do not they must remove the item. I would recommend even with this that you do some digging to find out who was the original creditor and why it is showing in this status. This will probably take several phone calls to get accomplished.

Hi Thanks the account is mine and the creditor is Next. I did miss 1-2 payments, but never received a default notice. The letter they sent me the other week after I contacted them is from their dept dept, but does not say default notice or anything about the credit consumer act 1974. This is all Next said they sent me. Is this a correct default notice?0

scan a copy of the default noticeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Any thoughts on whether this is a valid default notice would be greatly appreciated. Default was added 24th March 2006.

It seems okay , but it does not contain what the default sum is also it does not state you have the right to apply to the court for time to repay
