Working in London

Son wants to move in London, Currently he is temping for an agency locally. He has not had much success getting a full time job in London although he had loads of interviews. He is looking to work in administration and already had two years experience as an administration officer in a full time job but left it to go travelling in India.

He is a bit fed up temping locally and wants to move to London. He says as a last resort,he will use his savings to rent a room until he can get a job. As we are all aware, how agencies can be hopeless, I would be grateful to get some advice, please. I told him to be prepared that the Agencies might not be able to get him a job. Thanks

Has he asked for feedback from interviews to find out why he is not getting jobs?

Certainly the feedback is necessary to know why he has failed "loads" of interviews... would certainly be worth tackling the root cause of the problem prior to incurring the rather high rental costs in London.

Loulou, weren't you looking for a house to buy for your son & daughter somewhere around Harrow so they wouldn't have to worry about renting while working in London?

What's happened about this, have you given up?I know prices have risen over the past few months so wonder if you've had a rethink.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Wonder which agencies he's using. I used to be a clerical temporary through Kelly and Brook Street and was constantly in work although it was quite difficult as I had to use public transport.
If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!
