Hi All

I tend to buy cooking oil a lot for cooking in the home.

I always in the end have to dispose of it.

However it is possible that you sell cooking oil back to companies or any other agencies?

Producer of waste cooking oil does not need a licence to sell it ( which actually is less than £200/ 3 yrs) .

Can't believe a home user would produce enough though.

A collector/ buyer of waste needs a licence, and another one ( broker) if selling it

I can be used to manufacture biodiesel so it does have some value.
If you listed 1 litre on ebay for, say, 25p, and state that you may have more, you may find someone who's interested.

A quick search on eBay discovered people are selling it and auctions have multiple bidders, but you'll have to consider your location as it would presumably have to be buyer collects and consider how the volumes you'd be listing compared to these auctions?

What is it you're using it for? There may be ways to use less. I've reduced the amount I use quite a lot by using more suitable size pans for deep frying and by saving the oil to use a few times. Some people have also been using something called the actifry that cooks with just a few spoons of oil, but I don't deep fry enough to justify the cost or cupboard space for another gadget.

As for waste oil, a lot of people dispose of it down the drain, but even quite small amounts shouldn't be going down the drain. Aside from damaging the plumbing in your house/street, it apparently causes problems at the sewage plant that encourage sewage to overflow in to the rivers according to Anglia Water. I fill old plastic bottles with waste oil and put it in the landfill bin now.
