one of my friends and his OH recently attended a wedding up in scotland - by the time they had got a new outfit, drove up there and back, booked a hotel for the night, and got the couple a present they had spent nearly £500!!
fair enough but the gift and the outfit would be the same wherever you went, so you cant include that0 -
Not if it's on a beach in some really hot place, you can get away with just a thong and some suncream then.fair enough but the gift and the outfit would be the same wherever you went, so you cant include that
Mind you, suncreams not cheap is it?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
how would it be 300 quid for this country?
Depends how far away it is. Say 300 miles, round trip 600 miles, petrol now is about 20p/mile so that's £120, more that we paid for our flights.
You'd probably want 2 nights if you're travelling that distance, and hotels in the UK are generally more expensive than abroad.
So it could even be more expensive in the UK!0 -

Recently, on another thread, a bride said that they gave their guests two years' notice of the wedding and the guests only had to save £40 a week for those two years in order to afford the trip. Anyone who couldn't be bothered to do that wasn't worth worrying about!
That's over £4000!!!0 -
They probably know full well who will be attending based on costs involved. But if they didn't ask everyone who is close to them, they would be very offended - imagine 'well we didn't ask you cos we knew you wouldn't come anyway".
I am sure they won't be expecting everyone to go and will be absolutely fine with you declining. It's the reason so many people have a 'do' when they get back home.0 -

only 40 a week, thats 160 a month, or do you mean 40 a month? 40 a month out of our budget would mean something else being compromised, something that is necessary as we have no luxuries.
so thats us that dont care i suppose
I'm sure it was per week. I've had a look for the post but it may have been deleted by the poster.0
