Will the pound ever go back to being $2.50 Australian?
Will it ever be more like 2 euros?
Or are we forever going to be worthless?

probably not unless our countries output of goods is increased by 20 fold0

The aussie is a big factor as to when I apply for my visa, bearing in mind the price of property over there plus the poor rate we get for our pound it wouldnt be worth selling up here to move just now. Although I would still jump if got offered a position over there similar to the job I am in.0

I'm still waiting for the £ to be worth $4 again, as it was when 5 shillings was known as a 'dollar'.
Another term for Obama, and who knows....?0 -
Yeah everywhere else seems so much more expensive now with the pound the way it is, definitely will appreciate it more if the pound starts to be worth more.0

the pound is not worthless
if the aussie dollar collapses so that there is 2.5 to the pound then it's likely that aus will be experiencing extreme problems and will not be welcoming immigrants
if you really want to go to aus and start a new life then you are a complete idiot to wait for some rainbow to appear.0 -
Ultimately it goes with the balance of payments. Australia has mineral wealth that other countries want to buy. Just what Britain has that other countries want to buy is a lot less clear. Unless we can sell the belief that the world owes us a living - we've got loads of that."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

While his language might be a bit over the top, he has a point that, if you keep waiting for the perfect set of conditions, whether it be exchange rates, house prices, the right job or a confluence of the stars then the chances are that you're never going to go and you'll spend the rest of your days wistfully wondering about what might have been.
If you want to do it, just go do it. Now.What goes around - comes around0
