Safe way to pay a debt owned by a dca.

Hi guys. I am now in a postion to fully pay off a couple of old mobile phone contract debts now owned by a dca.
Which is the best way to go about this?
Should i write to them?
Which form of payment is most secure?
I dont want them messing me around saying they havent accepted my money.
Thanks

Cheque (with a copy of the cheque kept) or standing order is best. That way you control how much is paid.

And its always best to get written confirmation from them first as to how much you owe to put with your proof of payment.

So I should first write to them asking for a statement of what is owed and payment details?
then set up a standing order,
then both as proof of payment. ?
How long will it take for them to update my credit file as settled?
Finally does it matter if my partner pays out of their bank account and would this have any effect on their credit rating etc?
