Rental agents in Paisley area

I am considering renting my house and was wondering if anyone could recommend/would advise not using agents in Paisley.

I currently rent from Learmonts and honestly wouldnt recommend them to a Landlord.

It says in my contract theyre supposed to check the premises every 3 months, Ive been here 18 months, not been here once. Once my initial contract was up my Landlord asked them to give me another contract they didnt. Hes so pd off with them hes planning on leaving them and we'll just have a private arrangement.

I personally cant complain about the service Ive recd as a tenant but apparantly my LL had horrendous problems with the tenant before me, who caused lots of damage to the property

There are certainly quite a few letting agencies in Paisley as a walk around town will confirm.

I have rented out a flat (as a landlord with just the one) for over 3 years through a company which were called Homes Residential. Had a couple of issues with the property/tenant at one point and they sorted it out without any fuss. They merged with Merchant Lettings last year and the service has remained just as good. They are in Causeyside Street near Paisley Canal Street station.

As I live not too far from Paisley, I would be interested to hear which company you go with in the end and your findings. Hope to see a future posting here from you about it.

Remember that you will have to register with HMRC an fill in an annual tax return if you are renting out property. The first year its a little daunting but after that quite straightforward.

Thanks very much for the feedback, I had seen quite a few ads for rental agencies and need to get one which will be good as I plan to move to Australia so won't be able to check on place myself.

I have used Martin & Co. in Canal Street for 2 years & would recommend them to anyone.

I actually visited Martin & Co the other day and spoke with Joe who gave me lots of useful info - can I ask are you a tenant or landlord with them? I ask because if I do use them I would like reassurance that they are ok with tenants and landlords. I was slightly concerned by a phone call which I overheard whilst in the office.
