Guildford/Surrey/Sussex finding cheap storage!!

Hi moneysavers,

We are very soon about to move within Guildford to a smaller place and need to find cheap storage until we move out of Guildford and upsize. I've had a look at a few Guildford-based storage companies for our needs but they seem to have rather high prices compared to storage elsewhere. I don't want to go further than about 40 minutes driving in a van, as I expect to have to make lots of journeys to take our stuff.


So far the best bets I've found have been 100sqft at £27/week in Horsham with the first month free, coming to a 6 month cost of ~£594 or 100sqft in Farnborough with a standard price of £45/week but a series of discounts taking the 6 month price down to ~£630. Are these competitive prices for storage or am I looking in the wrong places? An alternative is to rent a garage space cheaply, which given the nature of our goods being stored won't be too unsafe - though I'd rather have assurances about it remaining dry over winter, as there will be some old furniture.
