just a quick one that hopefully someone will be able to answer...
my other half is a nurse and is unsure how good her pension is with nhs...currently pays in about £100 month but has been told the nhs pension isnt that good?
by the end of her career she'll have between 30 and 40 years worth of pension...
any help appreciated!

The NHS final salary pension scheme is a great scheme. Its backed by the Govt and paid for by the taxpayer so its as secure as you can get. Plus the amount of pension income payable versus the contribution is much higher than any personal arrangement.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Agree with dunstonh 100%(as always!)OH is also in the NHS scheme.
There has been some dreadful mis-selling to NHS employees over the years by unscrupulous salesmen who persuaded them to leave the NHS scheme – some have managed to get back in.
If your OH will not have the full qualifying total of years there are ways to ‘buy in’ or ‘buy back’ years of service in certain circumstances; and pay interest free spread over a number of years. Well worth investigating.0 -
Yep - agree with the above - the NHS scheme is brilliant on a cost vs. benefits analysis when compared to anything that can be done privately. Mrs wotsthat is in the scheme (a midwife).
I've got to look after myself and at the same time can't get a state pension until I'm 66 to help pay for the NHS scheme - it's really that good!0
