I have had my mortgage for 1 year and 6 months With HSBC. It is a £65K mortgage on a £189,000 house paying £400.00 a month variable.
We choose variable as we can pay more off per month.
How can i find out if i can get a cheaper deal? Is there any comparison sites that i could use?
Thanks

Hiya,
Have you challenged HSBC yet?
I've had a tracker mortgage with HSBC for 6 months (and previously for 4 years on my old house) and although I really like the ease of overpayments etc and I've had no problems with them, I thought the interest rate of BofE + 1.1% was far too high.
So I had a web chat with someone last week and gave the usual lines that I love their service etc but I want a more competitive deal.
They offered to move me to their lowest rate tracker of BofE + 0.65%. It usually cost £499 to set up but I challenged them on it as I am already with them etc, etc and they gave me a "Retentions line" number to call (which just happens to be 08456 020515) and I rang them and asked for a more competitive figure. The agreed to £249 and the paperwork is on it's way.
I have had a quick look at other mortgages such as ING but the beauty of this is that I don't have to re-submit all our paperwork again, it just switches straight over once you sign and return.
Give it a try - it may save you some serious money for very little effort!
Good Luck!Proud to save:T0
