Well, I'm looking to buy and have the same concerns.

My research so far is :

Private Sales: If going this route, use a conveyancer specialising in timeshare (however, some of these seem to be linked to other timeshare organisations)

Ebay: ( ) All the usual concerns regarding ebay, and then add in timeshare. I tried to buy on ebay today and the bids went from £51.01 to £2952.55 in about 10 minutes. So the seller did OK. Again, use conveyancer. Conversely, there was a week at Cameron House in Scotland that was on as Buy it Now @ £2750 and went before I could phone my wife to discuss it (this was a stupidly low price, even for re-sale).

See this Consumer Guide. The site is a bit out of date but the advice in the buying and selling sections seems valid.

Resales companies: there are loads but a few seem bigger (if not better ) than the rest: Aberfoyle, Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket, Global Resales (there are better ones if it is a US timeshare e.g. Redweek seem to be US focussed)

I even found a site, in America, asking for Timeshare Donations

Do lots of research, use the re-sales web-sites to get an idea of price but remember that these prices are set by the owners i.e. sellers like yourself and not by the resellers. Does your resort or timeshare company have a members website?E.g. for Club La Costa the is a site called CLCmembers - this has a section for buying and selling. It is run by owners / members NOT Club La Costa.

    Good Luck.

Is your time share in UK? I ask because ukresortsexchange

according to their latest newsletter (you won't see it on the site as it is a mailed out thingie), are about to set up a resale section. I gather it would be mainly to put potential buyers and sellers in touch with each other; not sure if they intend any commission based selling. Anyway, could be worth having a chat with them; they are a friendly lot!
