job application follow-up advice?

I applied for a job just before christmas and unfortunatly the company closed for christmas, the day i emailed my CV/cover letter.

They re-opened on the 3rd january.

Do you think it would be ok and the right thing to call the company to see if they received my CV/letter all ok?

Or should i leave it a few more days before calling, or not call at all?

It depends on the sort of role you are going for and if you have a contact for their HR type department or just a senior manager.

Personally given everyone will have overflowing email boxes from the festive holidays I would give it to the middle of next week before doing any form of "chasing"

For me it might depend whether there was a closing date or not. If there was, then you shouldn't expect to hear back from them until after that, and if you've been shortlisted for interview you'd normally hear fairly quickly.

Of course, if there's a closing date you want to know before it whether your application arrived or not ... so you could chase beforehand.

If there's no closing date, I'd leave it until Monday or Tuesday to chase.
