We have our venue booked for wedding next year, and were shown a preferential rate for wedding guests to stay at hotel. This was 2010 price of £150 per room per night. We have since been advised cost will be £185 per night, however found this deal in new 2011/2012 wedding brochure and I read it as £320 for a 2 night deal including dinner.
Contacted Turnberry hotel asking if our guests could have this as thought it was an amazing deal and would encourage people to stay 2 nights. After much agonising and abuse from wedding planner, it was agreed. When friends rang to reseve rooms they were told it was £320 per night totalling £640 for 2 nights plus dinner!!
Enclosing extract from wedding brochure, can anyone out there back me up on this, whole thing has been a nightmare. Why would anyone pay £270 for 1 nights dinner? Totally misleading and something I thought was ironed out with Turnberry hotel before invitations were printed.ACCOMMODATION | 2011-2012
1 night Bed & Breakfast Summer Winter
(1st May – 30th Sept) (1st Oct – 30th Apr)
Classic Accommodation £295 £185
Deluxe Accommodation £345 £210
Deluxe Ocean View £415 £235
2 nights B&B with 1 dinner
Classic Accommodation £320 £320
Deluxe Accommodation £370 £345
Deluxe Ocean View £440 £370
The above rates are per room per night based on two people sharing the room and include full Scottish breakfast, use of the Spa facilities (treatments extra) and VAT at the current rate. 2 night rates include dinner in 1906 restaurant on night 1 of the stay and cannot be used towards the wedding dinner costs. All prices are subject to availability.
Whole scenario is a nightmare and staff have no idea from one day to next. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Elaine

Ok
I read it as the rates are per room per night based on two people sharing the room.
So that is £320 per room per night so 2 nights @ £640.
Sounds rather dear to me and I thought our venue rates were expensive at £156 per room per nightTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
Thank you for input, very misleading as could be read two ways which is what I argued about. Didn't help that the staff didn't have a clue!!!
I agree very expensive for guests wanting to attend and a big hike on original prices. Sorely tempted to call the whole thing off.
Where are you getting married?0 -
I think the problem is that the venue is such that you should expect prices to be quite high as you are paying for the name/reputation although I would be hacked off if Id agreed a room rate with them that had increased without prior notice or any explanation. Id ask them for a meeting with them to resolve the situation as your guests are getting conflicting information from other members of staff. Hope you get it sorted. x p.s Have you checked the bar prices? Id imagine they will be pretty high too.0
