Thank you,I now this may seem stupid but what is the £2 saving only I have 2 children and dont seem to ever have £2 to save. Should I be asking at the shops for a £2 coin and be more forthright with the children because if thats the case I am ready for it! Try as they might they will only be getting £1 coins for their lunch.

I don't shop that often and very rarely get a £2 coin, but when I do I can't bring myself to spend it. I save it towards Christmas and infact this year it paid for the most of the childrens Christmas presents.

    Hi Babycham
Well done for plucking up courage! That's where you start to win the battle - you are now on the offensive and the debts are going to have to retreat.
With all the help here I am sure you will do it.
If you can't face everything all at once, why not post a few at a time here then people can suggest ways to target the debts even before you have gone through them all?
WRT £2 savings - just save your £2 coins towards anything you like. Mine are currently going towards a holiday.
And have a look through this site for packed lunch ideas - you may be able to reclaim more £1s before they get into school dinners. (Try the Old Style board.) My kids can have school dinners, just not daily.
Best of luck with it all!

    Hi Babycham
The people here are amazing, I've only been posting for a few days and already feel there's light at the end of the tunnel. When you put your SOA on here you'll find more help and support than you could believe, they're good people and genuinely want to help. A blessing in this day and age :A . Take care and good luck - now go for it!

    Welcome!

It's not dumb at all - it's only obvious when you know.

I think because £2 coins are comparatively rare it is easier to put them to one side. I did this from August last year and the total saved paid for the trip to the butcher's at Christmas (turkey, sausages etc). It felt great.

But it all depends on your individual circumstances - that's one of the great things about this site - there are so many good ideas that there is something to help with most situations.

    Hi babycham
Welcome to the board. It is scary having debts but once you sort out exactly who and what you owe at least you know what you are dealing with. Once you know the enemy you can start to get to grips with it.
There are plenty people on here to help you sort things out. you have done the hard bit now by making the first post, do your soa and you will get loads of help and support, and don't forget it is totally anonymous, no one knows who you are so you don't have to be embarrassed about anything.
If you can't face doing it in one go break it down into little chunks until it is done. Open those debt collectors letters and lets help you to work on the debts.

    Good Luck

  • Thanks for all replies it does make a difference to me. I have been to the CAB and been in contact with other societies dealing with my debts, but still couldnt even open their replies and got struck off. I feel better on this site cos not face to face plus I am talking to people who talk honestly about it. I did open many letters this morning and felt better for it. Will try and open more over the weekend. That way I can sort out my priorities and hopefully will post my in and out comings soon. Thank you
