Store cupboard/Freezer essentials?

I am trying to get organised for the start of my maternity leave - while I still have some energy.
DH works away a lot and we live in the sticks so once DC2 arrives I don't expect to be nipping to the shops much to get things in.
Ideally I'd like to stock up our store cupboard and freezer but I am not really sure with what. I will get staples such as rice and pasta but I want to have a clear idea of useful items so I don't just wander around throwing anything and everything into the trolley.
So, any suggestions for a good store cupboard/freezer stock?
I happily cook from scratch but will probably batch cook some meals for once the baby is born so that I have a back up.

Agree with FatVonD. In the meantime, the best advice I can give you is to make a list of what you normally eat, then stock up with items needed to prepare those meals - let's face it, if you never bake, then a cupboardful of flour (my No.1 essential item) will not be of any use to you - nor will my other essentials, pulses and passata, be of any use if you never touch the stuff.
You can also have a look at the following thread on Old Style: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/560196 to give you an idea what items other people find essential. My own list is on there somewhere, although it's changed somewhat since !0 -
Many thanks
