I've seen in alot of posts that people are checking their credit reports with experian ect daily. Can someone please explain why? What exactly i should be looking for? and should i be doing this regularly too?

I don't check mine daily, but I send off for mine now and again. It's to make sure nothing is incorrect on it. For example, I found out that Experian had me listed as not being on the electoral register. It turned out to be a problem with the way the local council had me listed. If I had tried to get credit this could have gone against me.

For most people, signing up to any service that allows you to do that is a waste of time/money.

Unless you have a particular reason to do so, then for most people checking their £2 credit reports a few times a year is more than enough.

Can't see a reason why most people would need to check them daily, or anywhere near that frequently. Some people might choose to if they are keeping an eye on something particular, eg they've asked for something to be corrected and are checking to see when it is, or are waiting to see if something negative is going to be reported by a particular lender. Or if they've just applied to be on the electoral roll and are waiting to see when it appears so then can then apply for a new credit product.

I'd think for a lot of people checking your credit file maybe a couple of times a year and before any large credit applications should be sufficent, just to keep an eye that everything is being reported correctly and to check for potential identity theft etc.

I used to check my daily but that was only because I was keeping an eye on something and I now going to send off for my £ 2 report every few months.

I was spending £83 a year just to check my credit report such a waste of money.
