1 bit of advice for you. dont get your paint from a homebase/b and q type place. these are retail paints and although are cheaper, are of a much lesser quality. you will also need to use a lot more coats meaning using more paint, so it wont be cheaper anyway.
also, retail paint tinters have less tints in them meaning you get less of a choice of colour.
if you go to a dulux store or similar, you will buy trade quality paint which will be better than retail, cost a fraction more but will go further, and the tinting machines have 16 colours as opposed to retails 12
also, in dulux stores you can get a tester pot and claim the money back if you decide to get more of itmy 'u' btton is broked :rolleyes:0 -
I'd shop around before going to a Dulx store.
I found the Dulux store in Chester to be significantly more expensive than the local DIY outlets (B&Q, Focus, Homebase). I went to a local trade supplier who made the paint to the exact same colour of the Crown paint I was after. The trade supplier was cheaper than B&Q and was happy to supply to the public.0 -
Homebase has 10% off day today and tomorrow. Might work out a bit cheaper, although I do find Homebase slightly more expensive than B&Q without the 10% off. If you do use trade supplier, make sure you get enough. We did this once before and had to get some more paint and the colour did differ slightly. Haven't found that buying dulux/crown paints.0

If you are going to get more than one tin of paint, wether ready mixed or mixed for you, I'd avise you to get a large plastic bucket or similar, and mix the tins together in that to get one even colour, as even tins mixed to the same specification can come out just the slightest, slightest, slightest bit different, which can sometimes still show on your wall and be very aggrivating - I only say this because it happened to me and bugged me endlessly every time I walked past the spot on the wall where I could see I'd opened and continued painting with a new specially mixed tin.M.A.C.A.W member number 39

i heard the best tip ever for paint yesterday.
when you store paint, keep the tin UPSIDE DOWN.
this way any skin that forms will be on the bottom and there'll be no wastagemy 'u' btton is broked :rolleyes:0
